By making these things less mysterious, Meta will be able to get more people interested in its future products. After all, Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth depends a lot on how well Meta does.

Filecoin is a great example of a project that works like blockchain by using a distributed ledger model. The Filecoin network is a market for data storage that doesn’t have a central location. It uses a peer-to-peer digital storage network like BitTorrent, where users can store and get their data in a spread out way. Filecoin has built-in economic incentives that make sure files are stored safely over time.
Through its own implementation of the blockchain distributed ledger model, Helium provides wireless infrastructure that isn’t controlled by a single company. In the past, crypto mining was done with a group of crypto mining machines that were all connected to each other. These machines were basically computers with a bunch of high-powered graphics cards. Because they used a lot of power, they were not good for the environment.
Helium’s services are built around a radio transmission device that it uses to make a wireless peer-to-peer network. It gives HNT, Helium’s official cryptocurrency, to people who install these devices. Keeping your Helium device on and running is, in the end, the same as mining cryptocurrency. But Helium’s options are better in terms of cost and power.

What is the Metaverse?
The internet is mostly a network of servers all over the world that are connected to each other. Each server has internet content that users can get to from their devices that can connect to the internet. This is an oversimplification of how the internet works, but we’ll use it to set the stage.
Imagine if video games all worked the same way. You could go from one video game to the next by just opening a door in the game. Through a feature built into both games, you can jump from the world of Grand Theft Auto to the world of Call of Duty.

The main goal of Microsoft is to help people get more accurate representations of themselves in the metaverse. The idea is that you shouldn’t feel like an avatar is representing you, but that you are. People moved farther away from each other after the Covid-19 pandemic. Microsoft thinks that it will be easier for people to connect over the internet if people can make their digital selves look more like who they are in real life.
This would, in theory, let people who work from home join board meetings that feel real. Microsoft also says that metaverse will have real-time translations, which will make it easier for teammates from different backgrounds to communicate and work together.
In the end, Meta is more focused on social aspects of the metaverse, while Microsoft is more focused on business. They saw virtual reality and the metaverse as a way to make money off of how popular their remote work and communication platforms were (Zoom, Microsoft Meetings, etc.)
Neal Stephenson, who writes science fiction, came up with the word “metaverse.” One could even say that he created Web 3 and the metaverse. Late in September 2022, Neal Stephenson said that he was going to make his own version, called Lamina1, which would be based on distributed ledger blockchain technology. This would make a Metaverse that is not controlled by one place and is open to anyone.
Almost as much as Meta, Decentraland has been in the news. In Decentraland, investors have spent thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency to buy virtual land. Many people hope to make money off of this land one day.
It is licensed under Apache 2.0, which means that anyone can download it. The software that Decentraland runs on is free, but the virtual lands are not. Most land parcels are bought and sold with digital coins called MANA.
Decentraland didn’t become more well-known until 2022, when well-known brands like Samsung, Atari, Miller Lite, and Adidas started to buy properties or buy ads there.
The metaverse is a group of virtual reality worlds that are linked together. In the end, it is meant to make it possible to travel through the internet in an immersive way. VR headsets will take the place of traditional add-ons like keyboards and mice. And your web browser will be replaced by the metaverse. It all depends on Web 3 technology.
